* Case C-444/00, The Queen on the application of Mayer Parry Recycling Ltd ECJ 19 June 2003, nyr The Court explains how ‘recycling’ in the Packaging waste directive 94/62 is to be interpreted. Reprocessing of metal packaging waste by transforming it into a secondary raw material – which cannot be directly used for the production of new packagings – in itself does not form ‘recycling’, but using this material to produce ingots, sheets or coils of steel does.
